Boot Roundup - Heeled boots

It seems to already be the season of sales, when retailers move out their winter apparel (including boots) to make way for fashion more suited to warm weather. So I hope to do a couple of "boot roundup" posts before the online boot selection thins out significantly. This post focuses on high-heeled boots.

This post is not a guarantee that these boots will actually accommodate small calves. I have not tried on any of the following boots. Instead, I chose them based on their product descriptions and reviews. I'd love to hear comments from those of you that have firsthand experience with any of the boots listed below. And of course, suggestions are always welcome!

C LABEL Candi-1 Boots
 ($40-$70)
The descriptions list a 14" circumference but the one reviewer on Amazon and Endless (it appears to be the same person) complained they were very snug on her average/slim calves. Multiple colors are available.

UES, Perry Wedge boots ($140-$185)
No reviews yet on these boots but the description on Endless and Amazon lists a 12.5” circumference. It's also available at 6pm.
UES - Perry Leather (Washed Black) - Footwear

Aldo says these have a 13” circumference and they seem adjustable.

Lifestride, Ulterior boots – regular shaft ($80)
I think these boots are available in both wide and regular shaft widths. Most of the comments seem to pertain to the wide shaft version so it's hard to know how the regular version fits. However, one reviewer said the boots were good for her petite/slim legs. The calf circumference is listed at 12” on  Amazon and Zapposand 15" on Endless. Confusing. I'm considering ordering these for a review.
LifeStride - Ulterior (Regular Shaft) (Rich Cocoa) - Footwear

Nina, Irvina boots (now $85-$120)
Zappos lists the calf circumference at 12.5”. These seem to have a stretch calf. I haven’t had much luck with stretch boots and don't favor them, but others may feel differently. They are also available at  EndlessAmazon, and 6pm
Nina - Irvina (Black Suede) - Footwear

The Zappos and 6pm listings say that a size 6 has a 13”-13.5" circumference. Read the reviews for more advice regarding the fit of the foot and calf.
Fitzwell - Rylee 2 Wedge Boot (Dark Brown Calf) - Footwear

Another stretch boot—this one is an over-the-knee boot—with a 12” circumference.
Type Z - Sheffield (Black) - Footwear
Another stretch boot, this one listed with a 12.25” circumference.
Gabriella Rocha - Zalyia (Black Lycra) - Footwear

Yet another stretch boot. This one may be promising because it says that a size 8.5 has a circumference of 13”.
Fitzwell - Lyra Low Wedge Boot (Dark Brown Stretch) - Footwear

Zappos and Shoebuy say these have a 12.5” circumference but Endless and  Amazon say they are 14”.

BCBGeneration - Eclipse High Boot (Black) - Footwear

With the gradually encroaching spring fashion in stores and online, I realize there's limited time to find boots for this winter (although winter just officially began!) so I really hope this post helps some of you out there. As always, I find your suggestions, experiences and general feedback, very helpful. I hope to put together a boot roundup focused on riding boots fairly soon.

  1. I ordered the Lyra Low Wedge boots from Zappos last year and I found them to be disappointing. They felt flimsy and cheaply made, and weren't particularly comfortable. I ended up going with the Gaetana by La Canadienne instead.

    1. (By the way, my calves are about 13.5", for reference.)

  2. I have very slim calves (11.5-12"). I bought the Taylor Frye boots on zappos and they fit like a dream. I seriously wear them every weekend. Ladies... You have to check out these boots, they are gorgeous in black.
Ps. Thank you for this blog! Finally!!

  3. Thanks for creating this blog! I can never find boots that fit my calves which I measured at 13.25 inches. I just ordered the Lifestride Ulterior that you show above, from Zappos. They are on sale for $67.99. I chose Zappos because of the free return shipping as I am not sure that the measurements on the Site are truthful. I will post again with the results!

  4. Sorry, I misstated the price above. I ordered the black at $64.99. The brown are listed on Zappos for $59.99.

  5. Ok, I just received the Lifestride Ulterior from Zappos. What a disappointment! The description said that the boots have a 12" circumference, but I measured my calf at 13¼" and there was a space of about two inches between my calf and the boot all around.
They are really cute boots, but not for narrow calves at all.
    The search continues...
